Scented candles – how they beautify your home and increase your well-being
Scented candles are more than just decorative home accessories. They create a pleasant atmosphere, enhance the character of a room, and have a noticeable effect on our inner balance. With their soft light and harmoniously balanced fragrances, they transform any living area into a personal comfort zone . Whether in the living room, bedroom, or bathroom – the right scented candle brings calm, warmth, and style to everyday life.
The effect of scented candles unfolds on several levels. While the flickering light has a calming visual effect, the fragrances influence the limbic system – the part of the brain responsible for emotions and memories – via our sense of smell. Therefore, certain fragrance compositions can lift our mood, provide greater balance, or relax us in a targeted manner. A scented candle with sandalwood , for example, has a warm and grounding effect, while lily of the valley provides a floral freshness and cardamom surprises with its spicy depth. Tonka bean, on the other hand, adds a soft, sensual note reminiscent of vanilla and almonds.
Scented candles are not only a great addition to your home, but also a stylish gift. They add interest, create atmosphere, and can be perfectly customized to the recipient's taste—whether romantic, natural, or elegant.
Scented candles enrich our homes with light, fragrance, and style—providing not only relaxation but also small everyday moments of harmony. With proper care, conscious selection, and a little creativity, they will accompany us far beyond their burning time.
WITH THESE TIPS YOU WILL ENJOY YOUR SCENTED CANDLE FOR A LONG TIME
To ensure you can enjoy a scented candle for a long time, proper handling is crucial.
Before lighting, the wick should always be trimmed to about ten millimeters. This prevents the flame from becoming too large or the candle from starting to soot. It's also especially important that the candle burns until the entire surface is molten when first lit. This prevents a tunnel from forming and wasting wax.
The candle should be placed in a location protected from the wind to avoid burning on one side. To extinguish it, we recommend dipping the wick into the liquid wax and then straightening it upright. This allows the fragrance to develop optimally without creating smoke.
Even after the candle has been extinguished, it's important to keep it clean – small impurities in the wax can impair the burn quality. When burning multiple candles, it's advisable to keep them sufficiently spaced apart to prevent the glass from overheating and keep the flame steady.
UPCYCLING TIP
By the way, the scented candle is far from useless after it's burned out—quite the opposite. A simple upcycling tip turns the empty candle jar into a practical everyday helper. To do this, place the jar in the refrigerator for a few hours until the remaining wax has completely hardened. Then it can be easily removed with a butter knife. After rinsing with warm water and a little dish soap, the jar is ready for new uses—for example, as a tealight holder, a small vase, or decorative storage for cosmetics.
