Brass paperweight “Foot” – design object from the Carl Auböck workshop
The "Foot" paperweight is one of Carl Auböck II's most famous designs and was developed in Vienna in the early 1950s. The compact object is made of solid brass and combines functional use with a sculptural, minimalist design.
The brass base:
It is a popular collector's item for lovers of Austrian design, contemporary interiors, and high-quality desk objects. Its presence is effective in both the office and living areas – as a paperweight, design object, or decorative sculpture.
Regarding the design:
The "Foot" is one of four iconic models in the so-called "Walter Gropius" set, consisting of an egg, hand, and foot in polished brass, as well as a stone traditionally encased in full-grain leather. Among connoisseurs, the set is considered a historically significant contribution to Austrian design craftsmanship.
Through its material, origin and design language, the paperweight “Foot” is a valuable object with collector potential – a piece of Viennese design history.
